And Why We Need Your Help…

Who Are We?

We are Financial Fortunes, a student-led startup team from Texas Connections Academy at Houston (TCAH). As part of the Junior Achievement company program that encourages student entrepreneurship, we created and launched a financial literacy card game for school students.

What Happened?

We are proud to share that our team of high school students recently won the Houston TYE Regional Competition and earned a spot at the TYE Global Finals in Seattle!

This opportunity represents months of hard work, innovation, teamwork, and learning. Through the Junior Achievement program, we developed a real business concept, strengthened our leadership and presentation skills, and competed against talented student teams across the Houston area in the TYE (TiE Young Entrepreneurs) Houston finals.

Now, we have the incredible opportunity to represent our school, our city, and our community on a global stage!

What We Need!

As students from a virtual public school, we do not have access to the same funding and travel resources that many traditional programs have. Unfortunately, the cost of airfare, lodging, and transportation for the Global Finals is more than our team can afford on our own.

OUR MISSION

Financial literacy has been decreasing rapidly, and Financial Fortunes aims to solve this issue. With 1 in 5 teens lacking personal finance skills, we knew that working against financial illiteracy begins with introducing finance skills to the children who will grow up to need it. Our strategic and fun card game allows kids to grow their necessary skills and prepare for the future, all while having fun and playing with their friends. We aim to combat this disheartening issue by introducing key concepts at a young age, allowing children to grow up to be financially competent.
